Founded in 1935 by newlyweds Wally and Sally Rodd, the company began with a handful of cottages built to welcome travellers passing through Prince Edward Island. What started as a small family venture quickly grew as demand increased and the Rodds recognized the opportunity to build something lasting in the hospitality industry.

The second generation, led by David Rodd, expanded the company throughout the Maritimes, acquiring and developing key properties including Rodd Charlottetown, Rodd Moncton, Rodd Brudenell River Resort, and Rodd Crowbush Golf & Beach Resort. Under his leadership, the brand evolved from Rodd Inns to Rodd Hotels & Resorts, strengthening its position as a regional leader in full-service hotel and resort management.

In 2010, the third generation stepped forward as Mark Rodd assumed the role of President and CEO. Today, Rodd Hotels & Resorts continues to combine entrepreneurial spirit with disciplined management, supported by experienced teams in sales and marketing, finance, human resources, construction, and food and beverage operations.

More than 90 years after its founding, Rodd Hotels & Resorts remains family-owned and family-led, guided by the same principles that shaped its beginnings: personal service, responsible growth, and a deep connection to Atlantic Canada.
