Kids can stay for free, eat for free, golf for free and use the Internet for free. And the list of family-friendly amenities is long. Plus our two resorts offer family-friendly cottage-style accommodations.

  • Kids Eat Free
That’s right: when you book directly with us, children under the age of 12 eat free off of the kid’s menu, when you order from the regular menu!

  • Kids Can Golf for Free
Really! One free junior under the age of 18 after 3 pm with a paid adult, valid at Brudenell River, Dundarave and The Links at Crowbush Cove golf courses.

  • Free Internet
And if you have travelled with kids - enough said.

Here are just a few of the family resources you might find at our hotels and resorts around the Maritimes: water slides, pools, trails, lawn games, beach shuttle, horseback riding, tennis courts, marina, canoe, kayak and bike rentals.

We even have bonfires on the beach at Rodd Crowbush Resort and a new Games Zone at Rodd Royalty! Smores? Of course. Can you keep up with the kids?

Locals and visitors alike search for the best chowder and restaurants vie for the title. If you ask our guests or staff, there may be some debate after all David’s Restaurant at Rodd Crowbush Golf & Beach Resort won the PEI Potato Seafood Chowder Championship two years running!

But wait, we also heard the best chowder is at Rodd Brudenell River Resort (with no fewer than five fish ingredients including shrimp, mussels, scallops, and lobster).

Or how about this amazing chowder recipe at the Chambers Restaurant & Bar at Rodd Charlottetown: creamy fish velouté, Atlantic finfish, bay scallops, shrimp, aromatic vegetables, double cream, and a hint of tarragon; salivating yet?

Don’t forget Gale’s Eatery in Yarmouth where they claim the fish from the waters of Nova Scotia make it especially tasty. Test them all and you decide!
Today, Rodd Hotels & Resorts is one of Atlantic Canada’s largest privately-owned hotel chains with seven properties throughout New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

But back in 1935, newlyweds Wally and Sally Rodd could not have imagined that the cottages they built next to their family home might mushroom into a multi-province operation employing more than 750 people!

Sally and Wally Rodd

Turns out the tourism industry was just getting going and based on the success of their cottage operation, Wally and Sally decided 20 years later to build The Motel Charlottetown in West Royalty, PEI. A decade later, their son David became Executive Vice-President of the Queen City Motel next door and ten years later brought the Parkview Motel in Moncton, New Brunswick into the Rodd family operation.

The Motel Charlottetown

The 80’s was a time of expansion for Rodd’s with two new properties in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and the acquisition of the historic CN Charlottetown Hotel (Rodd Charlottetown). Major new golf resorts in PEI added to the company’s operations and around this time David rebranded the expanding chain to Rodd Hotels & Resorts.

In the 1990s, Rodd Hotels & Resorts continued expanding with a 50-room hotel including conference centre facilities, restaurant, lounge and indoor pool at Rodd Brudenell River Resort, and Rodd Miramichi River Lodge was added to the chain.

Over the next ten years, Rodd Hotels & Resorts capitalized on continued growth in the golf sector with another major expansion at Rodd Brudenell River and the opening of the 5-star Rodd Crowbush Golf & Beach Resort in 2001.

In 2010 David Rodd’s eldest son, Mark assumed the role of President & CEO continuing the entrepreneurial legacy of his grandparents and father. We can’t wait to see what the next 80 years brings!
Over the past two years, we have all noticed a positive trend in spending more time outdoors, in parks, on trails, on foot or on two wheels. All three provinces and seven Rodd properties have a wide variety of outdoor experiences to offer – plenty of fresh air easily accessible from the doors of our hotels and resorts!

Not surprisingly, Rodd Brudenell River Resort in PEI has a full range of family-friendly outdoor options from canoeing, kayaking or tennis to horseback riding and access to PEI’s tip-to-tip Confederation Trail and two of PEI’s Finest golf courses. You can find similar experiences at Rodd Crowbush Golf & Beach Resort, which also includes direct access to Lakeside Beach and the world-class The Links at Crowbush Cove golf course.

Horseback Riding at Rodd Brudenell

The downtown Charlottetown hotels offer excellent proximity to walking trails or directions to bike rentals. We even have snowshoes available at the front desk in winter! And the newest outdoor product in the region is the exciting “Island Walk” – a 700-km walking route around Prince Edward Island – all PEI Rodd properties are participating accommodations on this cool new way to see the Island.

Victoria Park Boardwalk in Charlottetown

In New Brunswick, fishing enthusiasts from around the world book at Rodd Miramichi River for the renowned salmon and striped bass fishing on the river. The hotel has views of the famous river plus step-out-the-door access to the river and recreational trails, or there is the amazing Over the Cove Zip Line just 8 km away.

Also nearby, Kouchibouguac National Park offers canoeing, camping, hiking, and skiing. In winter snowmobilers flock to Rodd Miramichi River for its great packages and access to miles of groomed trails!

Snowmobiling in Miramichi

Guests at Rodd Moncton enjoy the hotel’s “backyard” featuring 5 kms of walking and biking trails. A few of the very popular nearby outdoor experiences include the new Fundy Trail Parkway, Hopewell Rocks and Fundy National Park. And of course, the famous world’s highest tides of the Moncton Tidal Bore are just out the back door!

Hopewell Rocks

At Rodd Grand Yarmouth in Nova Scotia, guests can stroll the waterfront, visit the park across the street or request a picnic lunch and head out to visit Cape Forchu Lighthouse – the only lighthouse in Nova Scotia that can be climbed and has an intact lightkeepers dwelling. From dark sky observatory to the many tours (walking tours to brewery tours), art galleries and museums, be sure to check one (or all of them) out.

Cape Forchu
At Rodd Hotels & Resorts our pets mean a lot to us and we love meeting yours! Just call and book direct at our properties to reserve a room on a pet-friendly floor – there will be no extra charge for your dog or cat to join you on vacation. You might even find special pet beds, water bowls or treats and toys!

Why leave your pets at home when you can bring them along. Rodd staff want to make sure you and your fur family enjoy your time travelling in the Maritimes! In fact, we can help you find company for your pet while you are out so that they aren’t left unattended. Rumour has it that hanging out with or walking your pet is one of the jobs our team love to volunteer for!

Naturally, so we can all get along, we ask that guests with pets follow the same guidelines for courtesy they would anywhere: use a leash, pick up after your pet, and don’t leave your dog or cat unattended for extended periods.

Rodd's and golf are two words that “go together well” and have done so for many years.

The company knows the game and understands the needs of golfers – and it can’t hurt that they operate two of the most prized golf resorts in eastern Canada (with direct access to three of the most prized 4-star rated courses we should add!)

Whether you are an avid golfer or just want to enjoy a casual round or two, Rodd has a golf package designed for you. Or, of course, you can build your own custom package with as many rounds or nights as you like.

Locals and visitors alike take advantage every year of early and late season offers starting at about $100 per person (yes, you heard that correctly) that include accommodations at either Crowbush or Brudenell River resorts.

The PEI Golf Trail is an ideal package for the ultimate golf experience. Including hotel or resort accommodations for six nights at any Rodd Hotel or Resort on PEI – Rodd Crowbush Golf & Beach Resort, Rodd Brudenell River Resort, Rodd Charlottetown or Rodd Royalty and seven rounds of golf. Then for seven consecutive days golfers play the course of their choosing - The Links at Crowbush Cove, Brudenell River or Dundarave. Breakfast is included each morning.

For those who like to sleep in, enjoy the beach, spa, or time with family we have designed the Twilight package. Golfers tee off after 3 pm and play 18 holes for the price of 9 including a power cart. And that’s just a start of what Rodd’s offers to golfers.

The future is looking positive for Rodd Hotels & Resorts as our team plans for a strong season and the return of leisure, group, and business travel. Despite the challenges of 2020-21, Rodd’s has continued to invest in staff, infrastructure, and upgrades, capitalizing on down time and proceeding with refreshed facilities at several properties.

Over the next 24 months, $12.4 million is budgeted across the chain for additional renovations.

The Rodd Grand is slated for a complete facelift with new public areas and a remodel of guest rooms. The guest rooms will feature a nautical style while supporting guests evolving technology needs. New barrier free guest rooms will also be created to accommodate guests with mobility issues and vision challenges.

Across the chain, hotels and resorts will continue to see investment in exterior facades, guest rooms, common areas, and infrastructure.

“Our long-term goal is to grow the company,” says President and CEO, Mark Rodd. “That includes extending seasons at our resorts and enhancing the guest experience, a plan consistent with national and provincial tourism strategies to focus on higher yield visitors and year-round offerings.”
