For 85 years, our loyal guests and employees at Rodd properties across Atlantic Canada have entrusted us with their care and safety. As we navigate through this unprecedented historic moment in time, we remain committed to the wellbeing of our Rodd family. We are continuously working towards and learning new standards that will help us prevent the spread of COVID-19 – this includes enhanced protocols and procedures across all properties and departments. Although we can never be too sure what the future holds, please be assured that we are looking ahead and are hopeful for the future; future plans, future vacations and future memories.

Property Update: September 21, 2020

Rodd Royalty

The hotel is now open.

  • Wally’s Lounge is not open at this time
  • Free breakfast is a grab and go offering bottled water, bottle juice, granola bar, yogurt, breakfast sandwiches (bacon or sausage, egg, cheese on an English muffin) microwaveable, fresh fruit (apples/oranges), breakfast pastries, coffee and tea are available in the main lobby.
    • Monday to Friday – 6:30 am to 9:30 am
    • Weekends and holidays – 7:00 am to 10:00 am
  • Fitness room and indoor pool are open, for hotel guests only
    • Pool is operating at half capacity in regards to how many people can utilize it at one time
    • Guests are asked to sign in at the front desk before going to the pool or fitness room

Rodd Miramichi River

The hotel is now open.

  • 1809 Restaurant & Bar is open
    • Hours: Sunday – Saturday 7:00 am – 9:00 pm
    • Offering their regular menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner
    • Asking for people to call to reserve a table so they can ensure proper social distancing
  • Fitness room and indoor pool are open, for hotel guests only, the seniors complex and those enrolled in the early bird seniors swim (happens before 7:00 am)
    • Pool is operating at half capacity (15 person max) in regards to how many people can utilize it at one time

Rodd Crowbush Golf & Beach Resort

The resort is now open. It will close temporarily from October 4th – 8th, 2020 and will reopen on October 9th, 2020. It will then close on October 12th, 2020 for the season.

  • Food and beverage outlets:
    • The Clubhouse on the Links will be open daily from 6:30 am – 9:00 pm
      • Will close for the season at 11:00 am on October 12th, 2020
    • David’s Restaurant & Lounge
      • Closed Thursday, September 24th, 2020
      • Open Friday, September 25th, 2020 from 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm
      • Open Saturday, September 26th, 2020 from 5:00pm – 10:00pm
      • Closed for the season starting Sunday, September 27th, 2020
  • The pool is open for hotel guests only, but the hot tub and sauna are not open
    • Pool hours are 7:30 am – 10:00 pm daily
  • The Spa will be open from Thursday – Saturday 
    • Please call ahead and make an appointment
    • The Spa will close for the season on October 10th, 2020 at 5:00 pm

Rodd Moncton

The hotel is now open.

  • Free breakfast is a grab and go offering breakfast sandwich, yogurt, pastry such as a muffin or cini bun, fruit (orange or banana), beverage (apple juice, water or orange juice)
  • Heated outdoor pool is now closed for the season

Rodd Grand Yarmouth

The hotel is now open.

  • Pool & Gym:
    • Hours of operation will be 8:00 am – 8:00 pm for both the gym and the pool
      • Pool is closed for cleaning: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm & 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm, closes at 8:00 pm for cleaning for the night
    • Pool & gym will be open for hotel guests and those who hold memberships, but limited numbers will be enforced to comply with social distancing restrictions, first come first serve
    • Guests are asked to sign in at the front desk before going to the pool area or we are taking appointments for the pool & gym by email: grand@roddhotelsandresorts.com
  • Gale’s Eatery & Haley’s Lounge will both not be open at this time
    • Doing grab and go breakfast, will be included in rate
      • It will include: orange juice, yogurt or fruit cup, cereal bar and a breakfast sandwich
    • Grab and go breakfast served from: Weekdays 6:30 am to 9:30 am & Weekends 7:00 am to 10:00 am
  • Mandatory in NS to wear a mask when inside, so guests will need to wear a mask everywhere inside the hotel, except while inside their own guest room

Rodd Charlottetown

Please note, due to Covid-19 and the decrease in demand for travel and use of the facilities, Rodd Charlottetown will remain closed until January 31, 2021. This closure will be reviewed in the new year with a further update pending the review.

Rodd Brudenell River Resort

Please note, due to Covid-19 and the decrease in demand for travel and use of the facilities, Rodd Brudenell River Resort will remain closed for the 2020 season.

We will continue to update our website with any changes to each property closure status as time goes on, we look forward to welcoming you back.


We are looking forward to hosting you at our properties. With the current situation, we are taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety of all our guests. Please make sure that you have taken the necessary precautions to minimize the risk of propagation of COVID-19.

To do prior to arrival

Check your temperature before leaving your home and before arriving. Your temperature cannot exceed 38°C/ 100.4°F. 

If you have a fever or flu-type symptoms, please refrain from travelling. If you have tested positive for COVID-19, or a presumptive case, or have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive or is a presumptive case, we request that you do not enter our hotels or resorts.

Please remember to bring a mask and gloves or hand sanitizer for the occasions that you will need them.

In preparation of our properties opening back up all of the following protocols have been developed following the guidance of local health and government authorities. Enhanced hands-on training, dedicated on-property rollout committees and a formal audit program ensure initial and continued compliance at all properties.

Overview

  • Design implementation promoting physical distancing – removal of and spreading out of some furniture, floor markers, directional signage, plexiglass barrier at front desk
  • Hand sanitizer stations throughout the property
  • Increased cleaning and disinfection frequency using government recommended disinfecting chemicals proven effective in preventing the transmission of Covid-19 sourced through our cleaning partner Ecolab
  • Covid-19 awareness and training for employees
  • Cleaning logs

Reservations

  • Flexible rates available, change or cancellation policy up to 4pm day of arrival (unless otherwise stated)
  • Visit website to stay up to date on all cancellation policies

Arrival

  • Free self parking available
  • Screening signage at all entrance ways asking guests if they are displaying any symptoms not to enter
  • Increased frequency of cleaning of door handles and door opening buttons as well as bell carts
  • Directional signage for entry and exit

Welcome and Check In  

  • Hand sanitizing station located next to front desk
  • Adjustments to front desk to promote physical distancing  (i.e. plexiglass partitions, extra desks where needed, etc.)
  • Front desk agents will be wearing gloves
  • Pens will be disinfected after each use
  • Guest room keys will be disinfected before entering circulation again
  • Debit machine will be disinfected after each use
  • Welcome letter communicating cleaning procedures, amenities available upon request, and protocols in public spaces

Lobby & Public Spaces

  • Hand sanitizer stations in key areas throughout hotel
  • Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting with government recommended chemicals, proven effective in preventing the transmission of COVID-19, with special attention to high-touch points
  • Cleaning time sheets displayed
  • Removal of coffee & water station; bottled water available from front desk
  • Lobby seating area rearranged to facilitate physical distancing
  • Signage and markers communicating physical distancing protocols in public spaces

Elevators

  • Signage to indicate maximum occupancy to promote physical distancing
  • Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting with government recommended chemicals, proven effective in preventing the transmission of COVID-19
  • Hand sanitizer available in lobby area

Public Washrooms

  • Antibacterial soap in the soap dispensers
  • Paper towel dispensers to dry hands with single use paper towel
  • Hand sanitizer stations located outside washrooms
  • High-touch disinfecting every hour with government recommended chemicals, proven effective in preventing the transmission of COVID-19
  • Cleaning time sheets displayed

Guest Rooms and Housekeeping Service

  • Removal of: minibar items, pens & stationery, hotel collateral, print magazines, alarm clock, etc.
    • Items available upon request, and disinfected between each use – new items provided where possible
  • Proper hand washing procedure noted in guest bathroom, where applicable
  • No stay-over housekeeping service
  • Guest requests carried out in a thoughtful manner with guests’ safety top of mind
  • Personal Protective Equipment worn by all room attendants and changed after each guest room
  • Enhanced focus on disinfection of all guest room touchpoints, plus continuation of extensive training and auditing
  • Continued use of government recommended disinfecting chemicals, proven effective in preventing the transmission of COVID-19

Restaurants (where open)

  • Mandatory screening for all diners
  • Seat allocation to promote physical distancing
  • Shift to disposable menus and/or disinfection between each use
  • Change of items / disinfection of all touch points on table between diners
  • Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting for both front and back of house with government recommended chemicals, proven effective in preventing the transmission of COVID-19
  • Personal Protective Equipment worn as necessary by all restaurant staff with employee and  guests’ safety top of mind
  • Promotion of take out and grab and go items

In Room Dining (where applicable)

  • Contactless option for drop-off and pick-up at door
  • Shift to disposable accompaniments, such as salt and pepper, etc.
  • Trays disinfected between each use
  • Delivered by In-Room Dining attendant in mask and gloves

Pools and Fitness Centres (where open)

  • Limits on number allowed in the facility
  • Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting with government recommended chemicals, proven effective in preventing the transmission of COVID-19
  • Cleaning time sheets displayed
  • Signage and markers communicating physical distancing protocols

Meetings and Events

  • Event set-ups to facilitate physical distancing; use of outdoor space whenever possible
  • Hand sanitizer stations in key areas throughout event spaces
  • All food and beverage offerings served in individual servings; no buffets
  • Personal Protective Equipment worn as necessary by all staff with employee and  guests’ safety top of mind
  • Disinfection of all touch points (tables, chairs, linens, etc.) between events with government recommended chemicals, proven effective in preventing the transmission of COVID-19

Checkout

  • Contactless checkout via telephone available
  • Keys may be left in room or in checkout box in the lobby, to be disinfected
  • Promote email invoice

Employees

  • COVID-19 related training provided to all employees
  • Employees required to self-screen and sign the self-screen before reporting to work
  • Gloves worn as needed by department
